When it comes to creating digital mosaics, color management is an essential step. To facilitate the work of designers, Mosaic Deluxe integrates a powerful tool: the color chart. This tool lets you view, compare and select the colors available, whether they come directly from the image being processed or from a predefined range of real tiles.

When you buy your tiles, we also recommend that you obtain the color chart, either in printed or digital form, or in the form of actual tile samples. This greatly facilitates the creation of the color chart to be used by the software.

Two complementary color charts

The software offers two types of color charts:

  • Image color chart: groups all the colors present in the imported image. Each color is identified by its Red, Green and Blue (RGB) values, allowing precise reading of the hues used in the composition.
  • The Tiles color chart: this lists the actual colors available in a given range of tiles. These ranges are stored in specific files.

These two color charts interact with each other, allowing you to compare the theoretical colors of the image with the colors actually available, so as to adapt the project to the material.

A clear, practical interface

Each color displayed in the color chart grid is accompanied by several pieces of information:

  • Its RGB values,
  • Name,
  • A symbol (maximum two characters).

This detailed presentation gives the user an immediate idea of the visual effect. Simply click on a color to select it: it is then surrounded by a frame for quick identification. What’s more, when you click on a color in the Carreaux color chart, its name appears directly in the status bar, making it easier to navigate.

For color charts with more than 30 colors, arrows are used to scroll through the available shades, either towards the beginning or the end of the list. Last but not least, a handy shortcut allows you to print out the tile color chart and keep it handy in paper form.

Overlaying markers

Beyond simple visualization, Mosaic Deluxe offers a very useful command: Superimpose tile color chart. This option displays markers directly on the color charts to identify matches. Markers can be configured according to your preferences: image numbers, tile numbers or symbols.

A bridge between digital and traditional

With its comprehensive, interactive color charts, Mosaic Deluxe is much more than just a graphic design program: it’s a veritable bridge between digital art and the materiality of traditional mosaics.
